Tasmania, and South East Tasmania is a world away,
with a population of less than half a million the entire state of Tasmnaia is uncrowded and unhurried.

South East Tasmania , with hundreds of miles of amazing coastline has the cleanest beaches, the most pristine waters and the most spectacular coastline in Australia.
It has snow covered peaks and one of the worlds great wilderness' to the South West.
There are ancient rainforests, wild rivers and offshore islands.
It has an incredible aboriginal history dating back tens of thousands of years and a fascinating Brittish colonial history as a penal colony at PORT ARTHUR.

The beaches in the main are deserted - in some cases you would be more likely to bump into a seal than another human. 
BUSHWALKING is a treat , from one end to the other, from fantastically high seacliff edges to button grass plains, from high country to pristine beaches.
The locals love surfing, from the beachbreaks to SHIPSTERN BLUFF, also kite surfing,  fishing, kayaking and rockclimbing. There are local public golf courses and tennis courts available. Wild life abounds. ADVENTURE TOURS operate along the spectacular coast. There are wedgetailed eagles, black cockies, all manner of coastal birds and the endangered swift parrot in the Wielangta Forest. Dusk and dawn bring out mobs of marsupials so be careful driving at these times!

The Falls music festival kicks off the new year at Marion Bay. Of course there is MONA , TMAG and the craft galleries and cafes of Hobart and Salamanca Market are the retail centres but there are many small galleries and  studio outlets like ARTLESS and good coffee throughout the south east region. The peak tourist season really begins around new year with the Hobart Summer Festival and the Sydney - Hobart yachts but whatever the time of year in south east Tasmania outside activities are always available to you.

Eating out in Marion Bay takes you to the WATERFRONT CAFE and the village of Dunalley where the small fishing fleet is tied up. Fresh fish and also fish n chips is available at the Dunalley Fish Markets. There is also a bakery, a post office a mini mart, take away and a pub for evening meals.
Hobart, the state capital has many and varied restuarants to choose from.

Don't worry about the WEATHER, expect 4 seasons in one day!
Bring your favourite warm jacket and a beanie and don't forget the sunnies and plenty of sunscreen!
